Job summary

The Ecology research group at the Department of Environmental Sciences, University of Basel, invites applications for a fully funded postdoc position in ecological modelling focusing on relaxation times of accrued lags in plant species across Europe’s mountain ranges.

You will work with a team, supervise PhD and MSc students, teach activities, and apply statistical analyses and modelling (preferably in R) to large ecological datasets related to climate-induced range shifts.

Qualifications

• PhD in ecology, botany, biogeography, environmental science, computational biology or related fields.
• Excellent written and spoken English; strong communication and organizational skills.
• Experience supervising students is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Model relaxation times of accrued lags in plant species across Europe’s mountain ranges.
• Collaborate with team members and researchers from other institutions; co-supervise PhD and MSc students.
• Contribute to teaching and other research activities of the ecology group.
