Job summary

The Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research WSL in Lausanne invites a PostDoc in Urban Tree Ecophysiology and Ecohydrology to join the NovaCity program. Based at WSL Lausanne, you will investigate how urban green infrastructure performs for cooling and rainwater retention through field measurements, soil analysis, and modelling.

You will work in an interdisciplinary team spanning plant ecophysiology, soil ecohydrology, and remote sensing, with sites across Sion, Fribourg

Qualifications

• PhD in plant physiology, urban ecology, ecohydrology or related field.
• Strong quantitative and scientific writing skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
• Experience with data analysis and modelling in R or Python is essential.

Responsibilities

• Join the NovaCity program to study urban green infrastructure performance for cooling and rainwater retention.
• Combine in-situ measurements with soil hydraulic characterization and microclimate observations.
• Parameterise urban ecohydrological models and scale up with remote sensing data.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across WSL Lausanne and partner sites.
