Your Tasks And Responsibilities

The Functional Lead, Process & Project Engineering (m/f/d) supports site technical management by leading the Project and Process Engineering functional cluster to drive technical excellence, site investments, and continuous improvement; you will oversee project engineering, maintenance strategies, and process improvements to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient production; you will mentor and develop mechanical and process engineers, provide technical governance (e.g., approval of technical Management of Change), and act as senior interface to regional and global expert communities to strengthen site competitiveness and capability.

The Functional Lead, Process & Project Engineering (m/f/d) supports site technical management by leading the Project and Process Engineering functional cluster to drive technical excellence, site investments, and continuous improvement; you will oversee project engineering, maintenance strategies, and process improvements to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient production; you will mentor and develop mechanical and process engineers, provide technical governance (e.g., approval of technical Management of Change), and act as senior interface to regional and global expert communities to strengthen site competitiveness and capability.

KEY TASKS

• Provide direction and leadership for the Project and Process Engineering functional cluster through VACC leadership, establishing technical standards and people development initiatives;
• Initiate, plan, execute, and monitor site investments >100 kEUR, including budget control, sourcing, and supervision of external project resources;
• Support and coach product teams on priorities, performance improvements, and process troubleshooting to deliver safe, timely, and cost-effective solutions;
• Own and manage overarching process and control concepts, approve technical Management of Change, and ensure uniformity in technical standards onsite;
• Drive systematic bad-actor analysis, defect elimination, and continuous improvement activities to increase process reliability and performance;
• Coordinate technical, QHSE and sustainability considerations in planning, design and execution of investment projects;
• Represent the site within regional and global Process & Project Engineering communities and manage interfaces with external vendors and authorities;
• Promote knowledge sharing by preparing SOPs, enabling best practices and digital/technical innovation across the functional cluster;

WHO YOU ARE

• Degree in chemical or process engineering (MSc or PhD) or comparable advanced scientific education;
• Long-term engineering experience (>10 years) in process design, manufacturing, or technical support, with proven leadership in project or maintenance roles;
• Proven track record in leading plant investment execution and managing external project resources;
• Experience with digital solutions and engineering/maintenance tools and software, and in developing related training or SOPs.
• Strong technical and economic competence with demonstrated experience implementing and improving engineering and maintenance processes;
• Proven ability to analyze and troubleshoot process operations and support scale‑up or new plant implementations;
• Project management skills with good organizational and communication capabilities, and ability to lead cross‑functional teams;
• Strong interpersonal and VACC leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop people and manage cross‑functional networks;
• Fluent German and English, both written and spoken.
