Job summary

Thomson Reuters Mexico is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to found the CoCounsel Legal Desktop App team. You will set the technical bar, choose the framework (Electron, Tauri, or native), and ship core features with a focus on native-like performance on Windows and Mac.

You will define engineering standards, drive end-to-end architecture decisions, and mentor engineers in a greenfield environment while partnering with product and design to deliver a premier desktop experience for legal

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, with significant depth in desktop application development for Windows and/or macOS.
• Proven experience leading technical direction on a desktop product — framework choices, architecture patterns, packaging, and engineering standards.
• Hands-on production desktop code experience with Electron, Tauri, or native APIs and cloud API integration (streaming, OAuth/SSO, local file access).

Responsibilities

• Establish the technical foundation and architecture for the CoCounsel Legal Desktop App, including framework choice and packaging.
• Deliver hands-on desktop development across core features and integrations with backend services.
• Define and uphold desktop engineering standards, code reviews, testing strategies, and cross‑platform requirements.
• Mentor and coach desktop engineers, collaborating with product/design to deliver performant experiences.
