ETH Swiss GeoLab in Root/Lucerne leads a new forestry-focused mission within GeoLab. This fixed-term appointment for an initial period of two years, with the possibility of extension, offers a unique chance to shape forest-related research, data-driven solutions and public value in Switzerland.

You will identify high-impact challenges, translate practitioner needs into research and product goals, manage a diverse team and budget, and collaborate with GeoLab’s Geo-Intelligence team and external

Qualifikationen

• Master's or PhD preferred in forestry, forest science, natural resource management, environmental sciences, geoinformatics, remote sensing or related field.
• Several years of experience in applied research, program delivery or operational implementation in forest management or related areas.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management across practitioners, public authorities, academia, industry and expert communities.

Aufgaben

• Define an ambitious Forestry Mission addressing opportunities in forest health, resilience, biodiversity, carbon and ecosystem services.
• Identify operational gaps where GeoLab can create distinctive value for Swiss forestry and policy.
• Engage with forest owners, managers, industry partners, authorities and NGOs to translate needs into actionable initiatives.
• Translate challenges into clear research, data, product and technical requirements.
• Assess evidence, adoption potential and scalability; track progress against mission outcomes.
