roboa in Zürich seeks a Field & Hardware Engineer (60-100%) to move robotic systems from workshop to the field. You’ll design, prototype, test on-site, and support customers with hands-on engineering and rapid impact in a dynamic startup setting.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics or related field.
• Hands-on experience building, testing, and debugging hardware systems; proficient in 3D CAD and mechanical assembly.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on mentality; ability to work independently and with customers.

Responsibilities

• Field Testing: Conduct on-site tests and services and collect feedback to improve reliability and usability. Debug systems and communicate technical input to the engineering team.


• Training & Support: On-site customer support, conduct training sessions, and assist with customer integration.


• Documentation: Create test plans, verification procedures, document results, and design validation reports.

Hardware Engineering

• Prototyping & Validation: Build and test mechanical prototypes to evaluate performance, durability, and reliability.


• Design & Analysis: Develop 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and engineering documentation.


• Cross-Functional Input: Actively participate in design reviews, failure analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.


• Materials & Process Research: Conduct research and feasibility studies on new materials, manufacturing methods, and mechanical technologies.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field.


• Technical & Mechanical Experience: Proven, hands‑on experience building, testing, and debugging complex hardware systems, including strong proficiency in 3D CAD, mechanical assembly, and workshop tools and machines (drill press, Dremel, 3D printer, angle grinder).


• Working Style: Pragmatic, goal-oriented self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and a hands‑on mentality; brings strong social skills to build trusted relationships with customers and partners.


• Language & Communication: German and English are required; additional languages such as French, Italian and Albanian are a plus.


• Travel & Availability: Willing to travel regularly for deployments, and holds a valid driver’s license (Category B).

Great to have

• Field Experience: Experience on construction sites or comparable environments, combined with exposure to robotic systems, testing, or technical field operations.


• Prototyping experience: Hands‑on experience building and iterating on functional prototypes.


• Startup & Innovation Mindset: Prior startup or project‑based work experience in robotics or related fields, with a drive to bring fresh ideas and stay ahead of industry trends.
