Job summary

Talentedge is partnering with a leading international energy trading organisation in Geneva to appoint a Power Market Analyst. The role sits within the European Power Trading team, providing fundamental and quantitative analysis to support trading decisions across European electricity markets.

You will develop, maintain and enhance quantitative and fundamental models using Python, interpreting outputs to generate actionable insights for the trading desk.

Qualifications

• Approximately 2–3 years of experience in European power markets, focusing on fundamental and quantitative analysis.
• Experience supporting a power forward or futures trading desk.
• Strong understanding of European electricity market fundamentals and forward pricing.
• Proficiency in Python for quantitative analysis and modelling.
• Degree in Mathematics, Economics, Quantitative Finance, Engineering or related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to communicate findings effectively.

Responsibilities

• Conduct fundamental and quantitative analysis of European power markets, monitoring supply and demand balances, market developments and key price drivers.
• Analyse spot and forward electricity price dynamics to support trading decisions across the power futures curve.
• Develop, maintain and enhance quantitative and fundamental models using Python.
• Interpret model outputs, assess underlying assumptions and translate analytical findings into actionable insights for the trading desk.
• Work closely with power traders and operations teams, providing timely market analysis and supporting the identification of trading opportunities.
• Monitor evolving market conditions and assess their potential impact on European power prices.
