Job summary

Pascal Dietrich Consulting AG is seeking a Cyber Defense Engineer for our Bern-based client to design, build, and operate secure Linux-based infrastructure and Kubernetes platforms. You will focus on security monitoring, threat detection, and incident response across on-premise private clouds, working with Terraform, Ansible, and CI/CD integration.

You’ll collaborate across infrastructure, automation, and security operations to prevent incidents and improve detection, investigation, and response

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience
• Strong hands-on experience with Linux systems, infrastructure engineering, or security operations
• Practical experience in at least one security discipline, such as SIEM, security monitoring, threat detection, or incident response
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls, and network security
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code, automation, and scripting (Terraform, Ansible, Python, Bash, or similar)
• Familiarity with security logging, event analysis, vulnerability management, or infrastructure hardening
• Experience with detection engineering, security automation, or incident investigation is an advantage
• Strong problem-solving skills, an ownership mindset, and the willingness to investigate issues beyond high-level abstractions

• Build and maintain Linux-based systems, containerized applications, and Kubernetes environments
• Deploy, integrate, and operate security monitoring and detection solutions, including SIEM platforms
• Contribute to security incident investigation, response, and continuous improvement of detection capabilities
• Implement Infrastructure-as-Code and automation using tools such as Terraform and Ansible
• Integrate security into infrastructure configuration, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment processes
• Strengthen infrastructure security through system hardening, vulnerability management, and secure access controls
• Troubleshoot complex issues across networking, operating systems, containers, and applications, continuously improving security and resilience
