Job summary

ON-POINT Connect AG in Zürich seeks an experienced Deputy Programme Release Manager to coordinate 25 interdependent projects in a major banking transformation. You will lead 10–15 Cluster Release Managers and Release Coordinators and ensure enterprise-wide deployment readiness.

Role requires 15+ years in IT project delivery within banking, with a track record in large-scale transformations, and strong stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of IT project delivery experience in complex banking/financial services environments
• Senior or Programme Release Manager in large-scale transformation
• Hands-on experience managing multi-project release trains across SIT and UAT in regulated environments
• Strong understanding of banking system landscapes and Private Banking products ( Wealth Management )
• Strong knowledge of SDLC methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, SAFe, hybrid) and ALM tools such as JIRA

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 10–15 Cluster Release Managers and deputise for the Programme Release Manager
• Define and adapt Release Management processes to programme needs across 25 projects
• Develop and maintain an integrated release plan covering timelines, dependencies, risks and environment availability
• Coordinate releases across multiple projects and suppliers, aligning with Change Management and exercising veto authority over deployments
• Chair release coordination and steering meetings to track progress, resolve blockers and manage risks
• Ensure end-to-end traceability from requirements through deployments using JIRA/Confluence
• Manage release dependencies and risks with Environment Management
• Monitor release performance via KPIs like defect leakage, regression pass rates, rollbacks, deployment success

We are looking for an experienced Deputy Programme Release Manager to coordinate activities across 25 interdependent projects within a major banking transformation programme. In this senior role, you will lead a team of 10–15 Cluster Release Managers and Release Coordinators and ensure effective coordination across the programme.

Working with stakeholders at all levels, you will bring structure to complexity, manage competing priorities and help ensure successful delivery across the programme.

Your new challenge

• Lead a team of 10–15 Cluster Release Managers and Release Coordinators and deputise for the Programme Release Manager
• Define and adapt Release Management processes to programme needs, including coordination across 25 simultaneously delivering projects
• Develop and maintain an integrated release plan covering timelines, dependencies, risks and environment availability
• Coordinate releases across multiple projects and suppliers, ensuring alignment with enterprise Change Management and exercising veto authority over environment deployments
• Chair regular release coordination and steering meetings to track progress, resolve blockers and manage risks
• Ensure end-to-end traceability from requirements and design through development and testing to defects and deployments using JIRA, Confluence or similar tools
• Manage release dependencies and risks and oversee the staging and promotion of code and configuration changes in close collaboration with Environment Management
• Monitor release performance through KPIs including defect leakage, regression pass rates, rollbacks and deployment success

What you bring

• University degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or a related field
• At least 15 years of IT project delivery experience within complex banking or financial services environments with 500–1,000 applications across multiple booking centres
• Proven experience as a Senior or Programme Release Manager in large-scale transformation programmes
• Experience adapting Release Management processes to programme requirements
• Hands‑on experience managing multi-project release trains across SIT and UAT in regulated environments
• Strong understanding of banking system landscapes and Private Banking products, ideally within Wealth Management
• Strong knowledge of SDLC methodologies including Waterfall, Agile, SAFe and hybrid models
• Experience with Release Management and ALM tools such as JIRA
• Pragmatic, solution‑driven and results‑oriented approach with strong attention to detail
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across technical, business and Senior Management audiences
• High emotional intelligence and the ability to manage conflicting priorities in a complex matrix organisation
• Ability to work autonomously under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Excellent written and spoken English; German or other languages are an advantage
• High commitment to programme success and willingness to work weekends when required
