The World Meteorological Organization seeks a Temporary Science Officer to support the Global Cryosphere Watch (GCW) efforts in Geneva. The role focuses on engaging with Members, documenting priority cryospheric observations, and enhancing integration with WIGOS and WIS 2.0, including GCW website redevelopment.

Qualifikationen

• Master's degree or equivalent in Earth system science, cryosphere science, meteorology, hydrology, environmental science, geoinformatics, data science, or a related field.
• A first-level university degree or equivalent in combination with two years of additional directly relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the master's degree.
• Experience working with international scientific or technical programmes, observational networks, or environmental data systems is desirable.
• Excellent knowledge of English (oral and written).

Aufgaben

• Support the revitalization of the GCW National Focal Point network through regular engagement with Members and partners.
• Assist identifying and documenting priority cryosphere observations and datasets for WIGOS and WIS 2.0 integration.
• Support migration and redevelopment of the GCW website on the WMO web platform with the Communications Office.
• Perform other related duties as required.
