Job summary

Swissquote, Switzerland’s leading digital bank, seeks an Associate-Director in Compliance Monitoring to lead the Monitoring team and manage AML reviews of crypto, cash and securities transfers. You will supervise sanctions alerts and investigations, and guide policy development in collaboration with senior management.

Fluency in English and French is required; German is a strong asset. A law or economics degree and 5–7 years in financial services compliance are expected for this role.

• Compliance Management certification is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Compliance Monitoring team, including task coordination and performance management.
• Oversee AML reviews of crypto transfers and higher-risk transactions.
• Oversee AML reviews of cash, securities and crypto transfers by Financial Institutions.
• Supervise sanctions alerts, escalation and final validation as needed.
• Supervise investigations on potentially suspicious clients.
• Drive internal policy and process optimization; update guidelines.
• Represent Compliance in regulatory and strategic projects with senior management.
• Act as trusted advisor to front-line teams with pragmatic compliance guidance.

Job Description

As an Associate-Director in the Compliance department, you will be in charge of one of the Monitoring team. Reporting directly to the Head AML Transaction Monitoring- Vice-Director, you will be in charge of the supervision of the operational activities and the people management in accordance with your senior management.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Compliance Monitoring team, including task coordination, performance management, and professional development of team members
• Oversee compliance and AML reviews of crypto currency transfers, ensuring timely and accurate analysis of higher-risk transactions
• Oversee compliance and AML reviews of cash, securities and crypto currency transfers made by Financial Institutions, ensuring timely and accurate analysis of higher-risk transactions
• Supervise the handling of sanctions alerts, providing escalation and final validation as needed
• Supervise the investigation on potentially suspicious clients
• Drive the optimization of internal procedures, including drafting, reviewing, and updating internal policies and guidelines
• Represent Compliance in key regulatory and strategic projects, ensuring the monitoring function is embedded in business initiatives
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior management and front-line teams, offering clear and pragmatic compliance guidance

• Leading and supporting the Monitoring team:
  • Fostering a positive work atmosphere where employees feel motivated, valued, and connected to the team and the organization
  • Promoting collaboration, trust, and cohesion among team members
  • Addressing any potential conflicts among team members to your senior management and/or HR Partner

  • Leading the recruitment process with your Talent Acquisition Partner
  • Ensuring new hires are properly introduced to the team, the organization, its culture, policies, and their specific roles
• Performance Management: Setting performance expectations, providing feedback, conducting performance reviews, and addressing any performance issues
• Conducting under performance process with the help of your Senior Management and HR Partner

Qualifications

• University degree in Law, Economics, or a related field – a certification in Compliance Management is a strong asset
• Significant experience (minimum 5–7 years) in a Compliance function within the financial industry, with proven leadership and team management skills
• Fluent in English and French; German is a strong asset
• Strong analytical mindset and structured, methodical approach
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills
• Collaborative leader, comfortable working in a multicultural, dynamic, and tech-driven environment
