The Lyceum Alpinum Zuoz is an international boarding school with a history stretching back over 120 years, located near St. Moritz in the heart of the scenic Engadin Valley (Switzerland). 220 boarders from around the world and 110 local day students study at our school for the Swiss Matura or the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBDP). We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and caring person (female/male) to join as a

Maternity Cover, College Counselling

Workload: 90% - includes evening and weekend work, as required.

Term of Contract: 5 Months, 30.04.2026

The position will suit candidates who are interested in counselling for university admission purposes and enjoy the challenge of working with bright and inquisitive international students, aged 15 – 19 (grades 9 to 12).

Please note that an EU/EFTA or Swiss citizenship is required!

Responsibilities

• Provide individual university and careers guidance to students, particularly those in Grades 11 and 12, supporting university choices and applications across different international systems.
• Manage and support students through the university application process, including applications, personal statements/essays, references, transcripts and relevant documentation.
• Monitor and maintain accurate records of student progress, university applications, offers and acceptances.
• Support Grade 10 students with course selection, taking into account future university and career options.
• Deliver university and careers workshops, information sessions and other College Counselling activities for students and parents.
• Coordinate university visits, presentations and College Counselling events taking place during the period of maternity cover.
• Liaise with universities, admissions representatives, students, parents and staff as required.
• Support the administration and coordination of relevant university admissions testing (SAT, IELTS, etc.).
• Ensure clear communication with students and families regarding application requirements, deadlines and university opportunities.
• Provide additional application support during key application periods, including, where appropriate, during evening study time.
• Participate in the wider life of the school, including professional learning, extracurricular activities and school.

Requirements

• Relevant professional qualification in College/University Counselling, Careers Guidance, Education or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in university counselling, advising or admissions, ideally within an international school environment.
• Good knowledge of international university application systems and admissions processes, particularly the UK, US and European systems.
• Ability to work independently and confidently manage student applications, deadlines and documentation.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills, with a high level of professionalism and responsibility.
• Excellent social competence and empathy, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and families.
