The International School of Lausanne (ISL) seeks a passionate and experienced Primary Music Teacher for a temporary 60% contract from January 2027 to December 2027. The role covers Music across the Primary School and contributing to the school’s musical life through performances and events.

Ideal candidates will hold graduate/post-graduate music teaching credentials, have IB PYP understanding, and be proficient in English with French a bonus.

Qualifikationen

• A recognized music teaching qualification at graduate or post-graduate level.
• Ideally three years of successful experience in primary school music instruction.
• Knowledge of and a commitment to the educational philosophies of the IB PYP.
• Ability to play and teach a variety of instruments, including the piano.
• Utilise various teaching methods and resources (Orff, Kodaly) to create an engaging learning environment.
• Organise and lead musical events.
• Strong interpersonal skills with students, colleagues and parents.
• Understanding of and sensitivity to cultural variance; adaptability and humour.
• Excellent ICT skills to support pedagogy; commitment to professional development.
• Fluent in English; French knowledge is an advantage.

Temporary position (cover for maternity leave) from January 2027 to December 2027

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Primary Music Teacher to join our team on a temporary contract. The role involves teaching Music across the Primary School and contributing to the wider musical life of the school through performances and events.

Whilst the position is 60%, the teaching and related responsibilities will likely be spread over four days per week.

Qualifications and Qualities desired:

• A recognized music teaching qualification at graduate or post-graduate level;
• Ideally three years of successful experience in primary school music instruction;
• Knowledge of and a commitment to the educational philosophies of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme;
• Ability to play and teach a variety of instruments, including the piano, would be an advantage;
• Ability to utilise a variety of teaching methods and resources (e.g. Orff, Kodaly) to create a fun and enjoyable learning environment that inspires children to develop a love for music;
• Ability to organise and successfully lead a variety of musical events;
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interact positively with students, colleagues and parents;
• Understanding of and sensitivity to cultural variance;
• Adaptability, flexibility, dynamism and a sense of humour;
• Comfortable with high expectations of students, colleagues and a professional parent community;
• Excellent ICT skills and a knowledge of their effective use to support pedagogy;
• Commitment to self-reflection and professional development;
• Full proficiency in English; knowledge of French is an advantage.
