Job summary

Flyability, a Swiss robotics scale-up, seeks a VP Autonomy to lead the autonomy strategy and engineering teams across SLAM, navigation, mapping, and spatial AI. You will own delivery across hardware platforms and shape the future of autonomous flying robots.

Fluency in English is required; French is a plus. The role offers a mature product environment, a global customer base, and a hybrid work model with remote options up to 2 days per week.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Robotics or related field.
• 8+ years in robotics or autonomous systems.
• Expertise in SLAM, VIO, path planning, 3D mapping, or AI perception.
• Proven track record deploying autonomy on real hardware.
• Strong leadership and coaching skills.
• Fluent in English; French a plus.

Responsibilities

• Hire, develop, and retain talent, with feedback and accountability.
• Lead the autonomy team and establish governance and processes.
• Define strategic vision for autonomy stack across SLAM, mapping, and AI.
• Own delivery and maintenance of the autonomy stack across hardware.
• Ensure trade-offs with hardware, sensors, software, cloud, and autonomy align with product goals.
• Oversee autonomy system risk management, verification, and flight testing.
• Set priorities and allocate resources to match roadmap commitments.
