Job summary

Novartis AG in Basel is seeking a highly experienced Cell Bank Operations specialist to lead lifecycle management of cell banks and ensure GMP-compliant manufacturing activities. You will act as SME, coordinating with global functions, development teams, and external stakeholders to drive quality and process improvements.

The role requires 3+ years on GMP shop floor in process support, and fluency in English and German.

Qualifications

• BSc in Engineering, Pharmaceutical Technology, Chemistry, Pharmacy or equivalent scientific degree.
• Minimum 3-year experience in process support role on the shop floor of GMP manufacturing.
• Excellent knowledge of Upstream processes using mammalian cells and cell bank processes.
• Excellent interpersonal & communication skills.
• Fluent in English and German.

Responsibilities

• Lead the lifecycle management of cell banks, ensuring availability, inventory control, manufacturing, qualification, registration, and regulatory compliance.
• Act as the primary technical and regulatory contact for cell bank and manufacturing activities, coordinating with global functions and external stakeholders.
• Serve as SME for assigned products and processes, providing real-time shop floor support and rapid corrective actions.
• Ensure GMP-compliant execution of manufacturing operations, including batch monitoring, review, validation, and documentation.
• Drive training, qualification, and capability development of production teams.
• Lead deviation, complaint, CAPA, and root cause investigations with ongoing process robustness.
• Maintain inspection readiness and regulatory compliance through quality systems and GMP documentation.
• Monitor product/process performance via KPIs, CPV, APQR/OPV, and risk assessments.
• Manage cross-functional projects, technology transfers, and process changes within budget and cGMP/HSE guidelines.
• Promote Quality, HSE, and Operational Excellence culture across manufacturing.
