Zusammenfassung

SBM Offshore is seeking a Cargo Supervisor to lead cargo operations aboard offshore assets, coordinating with onshore and offshore teams to ensure safe, compliant and efficient cargo handling. The role emphasizes strong leadership, safety behavior, and competency in cargo systems.

Qualified candidates should have STCW II/2 Chief Officer certification, 3+ years of crude oil tanker/OOW experience, FPSO exposure preferred, and proficiency with loading software.

Qualifikationen

  • Minimum qualifications per STCW II/2 Chief Officer of ships 3000 GT or more.
  • At least 3 years of crude oil tanker experience (VLCC preferred) as OOW; Chief Officer experience desirable.
  • FPSO experience is an advantage.
  • Experience with loading computer software.
  • English proficiency at CEFR B1.
  • Medically fit per GEMS health requirements to work offshore.

Aufgaben

  • Ensure adherence to safety, PTW, and risk assessment procedures, and monitor emergency readiness.

  • Support reporting and investigations of incidents while promoting training and competency.

  • Cargo Superintendent (See Unit HSEP Shipboard Manual Organization Chart for local variations)
Background
  • The Cargo Supervisor will exhibit a high standard of leadership, supervisory and safety behaviors and will ensure that all aspects of Cargo and Cargo Utility systems operations and supervision are carried out effectively. Delegated tasks will be monitored and controlled formally and effectively.
  • Equivalent to Ballast Control Operator (BCO) as per Res. A.1079(28) Reg. 6.4
Authority
  • The Cargo Supervisor assumes delegated authority for marine activities such as cargo loading and offloading and cargo utilities and maintenance. He or she will work with the Cargo Superintendent and the OIM as required where the safety of the crew and vessel is concerned. Work authority is delegated to competent personnel as appropriate.

  • 4 Prepare and shutdown Marine and Cargo Operations
  • 5 Contribute to Tank Entry, Inspection and Maintenance Activities
  • 2) Manage And Supervise Effectively
  • 1 Demonstrate leadership in technical and safety issues.
  • 2 Liaise effectively with all relevant onshore and offshore departments.
  • 3 Delegate authority having due regard for competence and verify effective close out of tasks.
  • 4 Promote training and competency assurance throughout the department in line with Company goals for the Unit.
  • 5 Promote safety awareness and application of the Management System regarding immediate safety of personnel (PTW/Risk assessments/inspections).
  • 6 Ensure timely and effective close‑out of relevant survey and audit action items.
  • 7 Encourage and support all department personnel to achieve training and competency targets and plan for appropriate time allocation for this area of work.
  • 8 Ensure timely and effective contributions to reporting and investigation of all incidents where required.
  • 3) Contribute To The Control Of Critical Situations And Respond To Emergencies
  • 1 Developing critical situations (operational, weather, equipment failure, leaks, fires personnel etc.) are identified and positive action is taken to limit escalation and to maintain control using applied policies or procedures or initiative
  • 2 Manage emergency response with due regard for safety of personnel, FSO/FPSO and environment
  • 3 Demonstrate knowledge and awareness of potential emergency scenarios.
  • 4 Contribute to the effective de‑brief and analysis of exercises.
  • 4) Monitor And Maintain Pollution Control Measures
  • 1 Controlled process discharges from area of responsibility to the environment are within prescribed limits
  • 2 Unplanned discharges are identified, halted where possible, and reported according to policy, procedure and regulation.
  • 3 Equipment, waste or other materials for disposal are dealt with according to the correct procedure.
  • 4 Controlled process discharges from area of responsibility to the environment are within prescribed limits
  • 5) Emergency Response
  • 1 Carry Out Emergency Response role (See Station Bill).
  • 2 Demonstrate competence in Emergency Response drills and exercises.

Pre-hire Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum qualifications as per STCW II/2 Chief Officer of ships of 3000gt or more.
  • 3 years Crude Oil tankers experience (VLCC preferable) as OOW (Officer on Watch) Chief Officer experience desirable.
  • Previous FPSO experience would be an advantage.
  • Use and experience with Loading Computer Software.
  • Proficiency in English at a minimum of B1 level according to the CEFR international standard.
  • Medically fit according to The Company GEMS Instruction Health Requirements to Work Offshore
