Zusammenfassung

Michael Page International (Switzerland) SA is assisting a small, international shipping company in finding a Tanker Operations Specialist based in Geneva. You will act as the primary operational contact for assigned vessels and manage day-to-day commercial operations from fixture to voyage completion.

Qualifikationen

  • Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies or related field, equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in tanker operations, ship management or vessel operations.
  • Seagoing experience on oil, chemical or product tankers is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of tanker charter parties, voyage execution and commercial shipping operations.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English; other languages advantageous.

  • Identify contractual issues, preserve evidence and manage operational aspects of claims and disputes.
  • Review voyage documents and monitor voyage-related costs.
  • Provide timely operational guidance to Masters, including during emergencies.

About Our Client

For our client a small and international shipping company, we are currently looking for a Tanker Operations Specialist

Job Description
  • act as the primary operational contact for assigned vessels
  • work closely with Masters, charterers, brokers, shipowners, agents, terminals...
  • Manage the day-to-day commercial operation of assigned tanker vessels from fixture to voyage completion.
  • Ensure voyages are performed safely, efficiently and in compliance with charter party terms, international regulations and company procedures.
  • Coordinate with Masters, charterers, brokers, agents, terminals, technical managers and other stakeholders to ensure smooth voyage execution.
  • Monitor vessel schedules, cargo operations, port calls and voyage performance, taking proactive action to minimise delays and operational risks.
  • Protect Owners' commercial interests by identifying contractual issues, preserving evidence and managing operational aspects of claims and disputes.
  • Review and verify voyage documentation, including Bills of Lading, Statements of Facts, Notices of Readiness and other operational records.
  • Monitor voyage expenses and support the accurate settlement of freight, hire, demurrage and other voyage-related accounts.
  • Provide timely operational guidance and support to vessel Masters, including during emergencies and critical incidents.
The Successful Applicant
  • Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Nautical Science, Marine Transportation, Logistics, Business Administration or a related discipline. Equivalent industry experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in tanker operations, ship management or vessel operations.
  • Seagoing experience on oil, chemical or product tankers is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of tanker charter parties, voyage execution and commercial shipping operations.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English. Additional languages are an advantage.
  • Sound knowledge of tanker operations, cargo handling and port operations.
  • Good understanding of charter parties, laytime, demurrage, freight and voyage economics.
  • Knowledge of maritime sanctions compliance and trade restrictions.
  • Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
