Job summary

The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) offers a PhD Fellowship Programme in Basel, Switzerland, with a three-month duration. Start dates range from April 2027 to December 2027, and relocation support is available.

The role provides exposure to BIS research and policy work within an international setting. The Fellow will contribute to research on financial intermediation, regulation, and monetary economics, embedded in BIS’s Monetary and Economic Department, with hybrid work options

Qualifications

• Enrolment in a PhD Programme (preferably in 3rd-5th year) in economics, finance or related fields.
• Experience conducting research in financial, macro or monetary economics.
• Ability to apply economic analysis tools (Python, MATLAB, Stata, EViews) to diverse topics.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to BIS research projects on topical issues in economics and finance.
• Work in an international environment with exposure to a wide range of topics.
• Be embedded in the Monetary and Economic Department with regular interaction with staff.
• Benefit from BIS research activities, seminars, and visiting researchers.
