Job summary

Lonza Visp BioAtrium site seeks an experienced engineer to ensure the operational readiness and reliability of small manufacturing equipment, supporting continuous biopharmaceutical production. This is a fully site-based 6-month contract role.

You will drive equipment lifecycle management, perform preventive and corrective maintenance, contribute to CAPEX projects, and coordinate with Engineering, Operations, Quality and Validation to uphold GMP standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of professional engineering experience.
• At least 3 years in a cGMP pharmaceutical or biotechnology manufacturing environment.
• Expertise in equipment lifecycle management and reliability engineering.
• Experience with CQV/IV/IQ/OQ/PQ and risk assessments.
• Strong GMP documentation skills (deviations, CAPAs, change controls).
• English fluency; German is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Drive equipment lifecycle management and reliability for small utility and process devices at the BioAtrium site.
• Minimize equipment downtime through preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Serve as SME on CAPEX projects, contributing to design, procurement, installation and commissioning.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Validation to maintain operational excellence.
• Troubleshoot complex equipment deviations using RCA and implement CAPAs.
• Author, review and manage GMP documentation (SOPs, work instructions, change controls, investigations).
• Represent the engineering department during audits and ensure audit readiness for small device systems.
