University of Bern invites an experienced Automation Technician (HF/FH) to contribute to hardware and software development for PLC systems in an adaptive optics real-time telescope project. You will define electrical concepts, prepare systems, program Beckhoff PLCs, and integrate hardware with software tests.

Requirements include HF/FH or equivalent engineering degree, Beckhoff PLC and Python scripting experience, and good English; German is a plus.

Qualifikationen

• Automation Technician HF/FH or equivalent engineering degree.
• Experience programming Beckhoff PLCs and developing test scripts using Python.
• C/C++ software development experience would be an advantage.
• Good spoken and written English; German would be an advantage.

Aufgaben

• Electrical concept and system definition, including the design of electrical schematics.
• System and subsystem preparation, assembly, and cabling.
• System and Sub-system programming on PLC System (Beckhoff).
• Interface programming for testing and script development (Python).
• System and Sub-system hardware integration, testing, verification and validation.
• Creating and maintaining the required documentation.
