Job summary

Evatec AG in Switzerland seeks an Application Engineer for Vacuum & Thin Film Systems to join our advanced deposition technology team, focusing on process-related commissioning, internal and external acceptances, and customer training.

You will monitor vacuum systems, lead production system commissioning from initial settings to final optimisation, document tests, and support customers on-site. Occasional travel (about 15%) and a hands-on, solution‑minded approach are expected.

Qualifications

• Education in physics, materials science, microtechnology, mechanical or electrical engineering.
• Knowledge of vacuum technology and thin-film processes; willingness to learn PVD.
• Enjoy practical tinkering and hands-on problem solving.
• Good English and willingness to travel (~15%).
• Enjoy assembling, tuning and understanding technology.

Responsibilities

• Monitor vacuum systems to ensure coating systems run reliably and produce required films.
• Lead commissioning of production systems from initial settings to final optimisation.
• Document internal tests (IAT) and accompany FAT on-site at customer facilities.
• Train service teams and support customers with technical questions.
• Develop and test new components; contribute to documentation and process optimisation.
