Evatec AG in Switzerland is seeking an Application Engineer for vacuum and thin-film systems. The role covers process-related commissioning, internal and external acceptances, and training of customers and service teams. You will support process optimization and contribute to technology development.

The position is on-site (Full-Time 100%) in Switzerland, with occasional travel to customer sites. English communication is required and a hands-on, practical mindset is essential.

Qualifikationen

• Education in physics, materials science, microtechnology, mechanical or electrical engineering.
• Experience or willingness to learn vacuum technology and thin-film processes (PVD).
• Hands-on mentality; practical tinkering and problem solving.
• Willingness to travel approx. 15% and good English.

Job Description

As an Application Engineer, you take responsibility for the process-related commissioning of our advanced thin-film coating systems. You perform internal and external acceptances, train customers and service teams, and support process optimisation. With your ideas and expertise, you actively contribute to the further development of our technologies.

What you will be doing

• check Monitoring vacuum systems: you ensure that our coating systems run reliably and produce the required thin films
• check Commissioning production systems: you take over the systems after the hardware check and bring them into operation from a process perspective - from initial settings to final optimisation
• check Performing system acceptances: you document internal tests (IAT) and accompany the final customer acceptance (FAT), usually directly on site at our customers' facilities
• check Advising customers and colleagues: you share your know-how, train the service team and support customers with technical questions
• check Further developing systems: you test new components, contribute ideas and actively support documentation and process optimisation

What you should bring

• check Technical know-how: you have an education (University of Applied Sciences or equivalent) in physics, materials science, microtechnology, mechanical engineering or electrical engineering
• check Experience or willingness to learn: you bring knowledge in vacuum technology and thin-film processes - or you are motivated to learn PVD processes such as sputtering and evaporation
• check Hands-on mentality: you enjoy working practically, tinkering, adjusting and finding creative solutions
• check Communication & travel: you enjoy interacting with customers, speak good English and are willing to travel occasionally (approx. 15%)
• check Technical skills:you enjoy tinkering, assembling and fine-tuning - technology is in your DNA
