Zusammenfassung

CERN in Geneva seeks a physicist to contribute to the design, optimization, and performance evaluation of a potential future collider. The role covers beam optics development and beam dynamics simulations, including synchrotron radiation, beam-beam interactions, and impedance.

The candidate will help design studies, optimise optics, run particle tracking, and address accelerator physics challenges using MAD-X, ELEGANT, pyAT, Xsuite, and HPC workflows in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifikationen

  • Knowledge of beam dynamics in synchrotrons and/or storage rings.
  • Experience with key beam dynamics effects for lepton colliders (transverse coupling, beam-beam, synchrotron radiation, impedance).
  • Experience in setting up, performing, and interpreting particle tracking simulations for accelerator physics studies.

Aufgaben

  • Contribute to conceptual design phase and collider development assessments.
  • Propose optimisations of linear and nonlinear beam optics, including tune scans and dynamic aperture optimization.
  • Perform particle tracking studies across operating energy range considering beam-beam, synchrotron radiation and impedance.
  • Investigate accelerator physics challenges drawing on FCC-ee study experience.
