BGC Weston-Mount Dennis Club is seeking enthusiastic, energetic, and dedicated individuals for our Youth Summer Camp Programs. As a Camp Counselor, your role is to provide a fun, safe, and supportive environment for participants aged 13 to 17 years.
This year's youth programs include sports, art expression, leadership, and girls/female-identifying programs. Experience in these areas is not mandatory but is preferred to promote diversity. Your main responsibility will be to provide leadership during these activities. The summer programs include: She's Empowered/Boys2Me, BGC Rhythm & Flow, Battle of the Sports, and Next Gen Council Committee.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and lead youth groups in a group setting
- Create a safe and enjoyable environment for all participants
- Develop and facilitate fun, creative, and inclusive activities
- Ensure all equipment and supplies are safe and in working condition
- Complete administrative tasks such as attendance, incident reports, and program plans
- Develop and plan programs for youth aged 13-17
- Work comfortably with youth with exceptionalities and special needs
- Ensure programs are safe, age-appropriate, inclusive, non-competitive, and skill-based
- Participate in two one-week camping trips to Ontario Parks
- Assist in maintaining safety and security, responding to incidents as per policies
- Attend staff training and orientation
- Supervise participants, following guidelines and procedures
- Manage conflicts and behavior issues with corrective techniques
- Report to Program Managers and Supervisors
- Assist with other club events as needed
- Maintain professional relationships with peers, members, volunteers, and parents
- Attend scheduled meetings
Qualifications:
- Meet all "Canada Summer Jobs" requirements:
- Be aged 15-30 at employment start
- Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or refugee protected under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
- Legally eligible to work under provincial/territorial laws
- Minimum high school diploma; university or college students encouraged to apply
- Experience working with youth 13+
- Skills in sports, arts, swimming, recreation, education, health, or nutrition
- Supervision and program planning skills
- Good decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Current First Aid/CPR-C certification (or obtain before start date)
- Police Reference Check upon hiring
- High Five - Principles of Health Child Development training is an asset
- Valid Driver's License is an asset
- Experience with music, art, dance, facilitating workshops, and program execution
- Experience with individuals with exceptionalities and special needs is an asset
Contract Details:
June 23, 2025 – August 15, 2025
Mandatory training from June 23 to June 27
Hours: 35-37.5 hours/week, Monday to Friday
Availability: 5 days/week (mandatory)
