Job summary

WoodGreen is seeking a Leader in Training for Youth Sports & Recreation in Toronto. The role is a casual, bargaining unit position with 10 hours per week (Tue/Thu 4-9pm, potential Wed 6pm). Onsite at 2206 Eglinton Ave, Toronto, Ontario. Salary $17.95/hour. Applications due Oct 15, 2026.

The role involves assisting with program delivery, supporting coaches, and helping with game setup, equipment, and logistics while developing leadership skills under supervision.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in high school, or a diploma/enrollment in a program related to health, recreation, sports, or community services is considered an asset.
• CPR/First Aid and Coaching Certifications are assets but can be supported through training opportunities.
• Some experience participating in sports, recreation, or community activities is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates willingness to learn and engage with trauma-informed, anti-oppressive and anti-racist approaches.
• Supports the creation of safe, inclusive, and welcoming spaces for youth, including 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.
• Assists with setup and takedown of games and programming and with transporting and organizing equipment.
• Works with staff, leaders, and coaches to support program delivery and build life skills like communication and teamwork.
• Participates in program activities and shares ideas to improve youth engagement and experience.
• Assists with communication tasks, welcoming participants and sharing program information.
• Contributes to a positive youth environment that promotes wellbeing and inclusion.
• Participates in community outreach and partnership activities as opportunities arise.
