Job summary

New Dawn Enterprises in Sydney, Nova Scotia, seeks a Community Housing Support Worker to provide holistic case management to youth in Supported Housing Programs. You will help homeless or at-risk youth connect to and maintain housing, coordinating with landlords, social services, and education/employment supports.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree or diploma in social sciences or 3+ years of relevant experience
• Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
• Experience with individuals and communities facing vulnerability and barriers
• Knowledge of tenants’ rights and responsibilities
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities

• Build rapport with youth in the Supportive Living Programs
• Develop and document plans with youth for education, housing and life skills
• Make referrals and participate in case conferences with youth and partners
• Coordinate housing opportunities, viewings, and move plans
• Teach tenancy life skills and budgeting to clients
• Guide subsidy applications and utility setup
