YOUTH & FAMILY CLINICIAN

Youth Counselling

15 Month Contract

Full-time (37.5 hours/week)

EveryMind Mental Health Services (formerly Peel Children’s Centre/Nexus Youth Services) is looking for a highly skilled, experienced and enthusiastic mental health professional to provide direct clinical service and case management to youth and young adults ages 12 through 25.

EveryMind is an accredited children and youth mental health centre that provides a continuum of high-quality mental health services to enrich the lives of children, youth, and their families who are experiencing social, emotional and/or behavioural challenges. Our services are provided in a dynamic, client-centred environment that values respect and inclusion, collaboration, learning, innovation, and accountability.

Reporting to the Supervisor, Clinical Services, working within a trauma-informed/strength-based framework, the Youth and Family Clinician will provide individual, youth-centered treatment services to an ongoing caseload in-person or virtually via video or telephone counseling at our main office location and in various community locations. Limited family work may also be involved. In addition, you will provide weekly single-session consultation appointments to youth and facilitate groups and workshops.

This is a 15 month contract to October 2026.

Hiring salary range - $70,345 to $82,293 over 5 years

Please note that hiring salaries are commensurate with experience and generally start at the beginning of the range.

Job Responsibilities

The incumbent will:

  • Provide skilled assessment, formulation, and treatment services to youth by employing a variety of systemic, trauma informed and evidence-based/evidenced-informed treatment approaches (including CBT, Motivational Interviewing, DBT skills) to enhance youth outcomes at home, in school and in community;
  • Demonstrate sensitivity and commitment to engaging youth in all aspects of service delivery utilizing a strength-based approach;
  • Develop, implement and regularly evaluate treatment plans according to youth’s needs, goals, strengths and cultural values;
  • Facilitate the enhancement of the youth’s informal and formal supports;
  • Effectively co-design with youth for implementation a holistic crisis plan to ensure safety within home, school, vocational and community settings;
  • Provide case management and outreach services to ensure coordination, collaboration and delivery of services and interventions that meet changing needs of clients;
  • Provide transition support and discharge planning to clients exiting service to ensure sustainability of treatment gains;
  • Provide in person counselling services to clients with the flexibility to offer virtual and telephone treatment interventions as needed or preferred by youth;
  • Provide group services as required;
  • Demonstrate a passion for working with youth and possess working knowledge of social service, educational, and employment systems and resources within Peel;
  • Participate as an active member of a multidisciplinary team in team, clinical, program and agency meetings;
  • Maintain a high level of clinical competence, participate in professional/program development, clinical training opportunities and staff training, and remain current in the knowledge of and adhere to agency policies and procedures as well as relevant legislation;
  • Complete and maintain comprehensive case notes, records and data in a timely manner, as per the standards of the organization;
  • Other related responsibilities.

Skills And Qualifications

  • Possess a Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counselling Psychology or health related field with a minimum of three years’ experience in delivering psychotherapy to youth or young adults OR a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work/ health related field with a minimum of 5 years’ experience;
  • Be a member in good standing of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers or the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario;
  • Strong clinical assessment and treatment skills with a commitment to youth engagement and client-centered service utilizing a strength-based approach;
  • Utilize high levels of oral and written communication skills, time management and critical thinking skills with a strong understanding of role boundaries. Proficiency in languages in addition to English is an asset;
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation for children/youth services;
  • Strong technology skills and experience with client care information systems and Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook and comfortable with use of apps;
  • Embraces diversity and demonstrated cultural awareness with critical self-awareness and understanding of engagement with the culture of youth and families;
  • Possess exceptional interpersonal, team and conflict resolution skills with an ability to collaborate effectively with internal/external stakeholders, clients and their families;
  • A Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check and Pre-Employment Medical screening (including TB test, MMR, TD, Polio, Covid-19 Vaccination), is required;
  • Have a valid Ontario Driver’s license (Full G Class), use of a vehicle with a comfort in driving throughout the Peel region (and surrounding areas);
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including 2 evenings a week up to 8pm, according to client and program needs;
  • Group facilitation experience is an asset.
