Job summary

Pacific Coast Children's Resources is seeking a dedicated Child Youth Worker to join our team. You will provide care and support to young people living in staffed homes within their community, empowering them to be independent and healthy.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team, document Personal Service Plans, assist with daily living activities and maintain safety standards, while engaging families and professionals to promote positive outcomes.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 education or equivalent.
• Post-secondary certificate/diploma in the community social services/health care field.
• Previous work experience in the community social services/health care field.
• Must be willing to get a Criminal Records Search.
• Current first-aid and CPR certification.
• Unrestricted Class 4 driving license.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to work shift work.
• Experience in professional planning and implementation.
• Ability to communicate effectively with other staff, professionals and families.
• Previous behavior management course/training.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the supported child’s rights and choices are respected and advocate as needed.
• Interact effectively with children we support.
• Empower the children we support to be full citizens of their community.
• Participate in the development, implementation, and documentation of Personal Service Plans.
• Foster positive relationships with the child’s family members, professionals, co-workers, and members of the community.
• Assist with activities of daily living and medication administration.
• Excellent understanding of behaviour management principles and strategies including mental health needs.
• Record the daily activity and personal health information (PHI) of the children we support on our case management database.
• To work in conjunction with the children we support to ensure their home is clean and well maintained at all times, including daily food preparation and light housekeeping duties.
