Job summary

IPEX, a leading North American plastic piping provider, is seeking a Yard Worker at the Attwell Distribution Centre in Etobicoke, ON. This full-time role requires safe operation, accurate picking, staging, and loading of customer orders.

You will operate a 10,000 lb counterbalance forklift, use RF scanners, and work in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 7:00am–3:00pm, with a starting wage of about $30.07 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience operating a counterbalance forklift in warehouse environments.
• Ability to safely move large, bulky products.
• Experience using RF scanners or warehouse management systems.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a 10,000 lb counterbalance forklift and other warehouse equipment.

What You'll Do

As a Yard Worker, you will play a key role in ensuring customer orders are accurately picked, staged, and loaded while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and productivity.

Key responsibilities include:

• Safely operate a 10,000 lb counterbalance forklift and other material handling equipment.
• Pick, stage, and prepare customer orders accurately and efficiently.
• Load and unload flatbed and dry van trailers.
• Verify products and quantities against order documentation.
• Utilize RF scanners and warehouse technology to process inventory transactions.
• Ensure orders are completed and ready to meet customer delivery requirements.
• Support customer and carrier loading activities in a professional manner.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment following 5S principles.
• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and operating standards.
• Identify and report hazards, incidents, and unsafe conditions promptly.
• Work collaboratively with team members to achieve departmental goals and performance targets.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience operating a counterbalance forklift in a warehouse, yard, distribution, or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to safely handle and move large, bulky products.
• Experience using RF scanners, handheld devices, or warehouse management systems.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Comfortable working with both metric and imperial measurements.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
• Ability to successfully complete a background check.

Preferred Qualifications

• Valid forklift certification.
• Experience in a distribution, logistics, building materials, or industrial environment.
• Knowledge of loading and securing materials on flatbed trailers.

Physical & Working Conditions

This position requires:

• Frequent operation of forklift equipment.
• Repetitive lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Extended periods of standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
• Working in an outdoor yard environment throughout the year.
• Exposure to varying weather conditions, including heat, rain, cold, and snow.
• Adherence to all safety requirements and use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
