Tri-Line Carriers in Carseland, AB, is seeking a Yard Operations Supervisor – Shunt & Tar p to lead the night shift, supervise tarp and shunt crews, and ensure safe, efficient yard operations. The role requires a hands-on leader with 3–5 years in yard/logistics and a valid Class 1 license for on-site trailer shunting.

The position starts at 4:00 p.m. and runs Monday–Friday, with on-site parking and a focus on building a high-performing team in a growing operation.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in yard, logistics, or industrial operations.
  • Valid Class 1 Driver’s License required for on-site trailer shunting.
  • Direct experience pulling super B trailers.
  • Willing to work night shift.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day yard operations, supervising tarp and shunt crews on the floor.
  • Drive team performance by ensuring productivity, efficiency, and targets are met.
  • Enforce safety culture; ensure procedures and protocols are followed and improved.
  • Operate a shunt tractor to move trailers between staging areas and load bays.
  • Maintain inventory levels and track materials and equipment.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings and participate in customer-led safety initiatives.
  • Train, mentor and support team members to build a high-performing workforce.
  • Act as primary on-site contact for customers and maintain professional relationships.

We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Yard Operations Supervisor – Shunt & Tarp to oversee daily operations at our Carseland facility. This role is ideal for a hands‑on leader who thrives in a fast‑paced industrial environment and is committed to safety, efficiency, and team development. Must have valid Class 1 Driver’s License (required for on‑site trailer shunting) with super B's.

This is a night-shift-only position. The scheduled start time is 4:00 p.m. each day; however, start times may be subject to change based on operational requirements.

Scope of Work:
  • Lead day-to-day yard operations, supervising tarp and shunt crews on the floor
  • Drive team performance by ensuring productivity, efficiency, and operational targets are consistently met
  • Enforce and promote a strong safety culture, ensuring all procedures and protocols are followed and continuously improved
  • Operate a shunt tractor to safely move trailers between staging areas and load bays as required
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels and ensure proper tracking of materials and equipment
  • Conduct daily safety meetings and actively participate in customer‑led safety initiatives
  • Train, mentor, and support team members to build a high‑performing, safety‑focused workforce
  • Act as the primary on‑site contact for customers, maintaining professional communication and strong working relationships
What you Bring:
  • 3–5 years of experience in yard, logistics, or industrial operations, including leadership or lead hand responsibilities
  • Valid Class 1 Driver’s License (required for on‑site trailer shunting)
  • Direct experience pulling super B trailers
  • Wiling to work night shift
  • A hands‑on leadership style, leading by example and working alongside the team
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and hold teams accountable
  • Professional communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers and internal stakeholders
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices
  • A proactive approach to safety, productivity, and continuous improvement
  • Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills in a fast‑paced environment
  • Self‑motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience operating a shunt tractor or willingness to learn
  • Reliable transportation to the Carseland, AB facility
