Job description

Yard Labourer

For 36 years Winalta has provided hauling solutions for the Construction, Plant, & Oilfield industries. We have a vast amount of knowledge & expertise in moving all types of construction/plant equipment, and camps.

Winalta Transport is currently seeking an experienced Yard Labourer for our Acheson pipe yard location for a short term contract. Want to work for a company that values their employees? Look no further and APPLY today!!

This is a Monday to Friday position from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and subject to change depending on the business needs, with possible weekend coverage required sometimes. Must have direct experience roughnecking.

Scope:

The role of Yard Labourer within the Supply Chain department supports logistics and yard operations by performing various manual labour tasks to support the movement of pipe and other materials within the yard according to applicable procedures, complying with defined quality standards. Stock is tracked in an efficient and accurate manner This position works alongside equipment operators to load pipe onto truck beds according to customer inventory and material order details (i.e. picking slip) as well as to offload incoming.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Work alongside Loader Operators to load and unload tubular pipes onto trucks
  • Support Pettibone Operators to efficiently offload tubular products from railcars and clean debris
  • Spot for equipment operator and use cones to setup safe work area while equipment is moving pipe
  • Assist truck and delivery drivers to load and unload vehicles
  • Perform other material handling activities such as counting, sorting, packing and unpacking
  • Ensure product quality comply with defined standards and reporting deviations
  • Carry out duties in an effective manner meeting productivity and efficiency standards
  • Ensure proper use of the company assets, detecting and reporting malfunctioning equipment
  • Perform other duties as required, including, but not limited to effective yard and warehouse clean-up, yard maintenance, administrative duties

Experience

  • Minimum 1years roughneck experience is required
  • OCTG tubular experience is required
  • Class 5 Driver’s License, required
  • Skid steer operation experience and certificate, an asset
  • Railway Safety, Working at heights required

Skills

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis throughout the day; ability to walk / stand for duration of shift
  • Comfortable working outside for long durations in varied weather conditions
  • Experience and comfortability working from heights and around heavy equipment
  • Attention to detail is critical in the role
  • Punctual, reliable, and willing to work, overtime, on-call and weekends when required
  • Problem solving, decision making and effective communication skills and the ability to work in a team setting
  • Time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks to ensure completion to meet deadlines
