YMCA BC is hiring for the Y Mind program facilitator role based in Fort St. John, BC. This casual, in-person posting partners with Positive Living North to support youth experiencing mild to moderate anxiety through group sessions, available in-person or virtually.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver the Y Mind Program with another facilitator.
  • Complete intake and assessment of participants in-person or via Zoom.
  • Participate in planning, information sessions, assessment, evaluation, and follow-up.
  • Be available for prep and debriefing of all sessions, including information sessions.
  • Keep accurate records and provide statistics to the Y Mind Coordinator.
  • Provide information, support, and referrals to community resources as needed.

Nature & Scope

The YMCA Y Mind Program helps young people experiencing symptoms of mild to moderate anxiety to learn healthy coping strategies and connect with like-minded youth in a safe and encouraging group environment. Delivery may be in-person or virtual

Major Responsibilities - in this position, you will:
  • Work with another facilitator to deliver the Y Mind Program
  • Intake and assessment of program participants, both in-person and by Zoom
  • Participate in planning, information sessions, assessment, evaluation, and follow-up
  • Must be available for prep and debriefing of all sessions, including information sessions
  • Keep accurate records and provide statistics and other relevant information to the Y Mind Coordinator as requested
  • Maintain a solid understanding of available resources and provide information, support, and referrals to community agencies for applicants and participants as indicated and available
Qualification - you bring:
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree, preferably Masters level education in a mental health field.
  • Experience with individuals and groups of youth with mental health challenges.
  • Strong communication skills with diverse populations, both spoken and written.
  • Successful candidate will be required to provide 3 satisfactory references.
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record check with a Vulnerable sector search issued no later than six (6) months preceding the start date.
