About the position
The position of Writer-Editor (Web and Exhibitions) plays a key role in bringing the Museum’s science, research, collections and exhibitions to life for the public in multiple languages. The incumbent edit and create compelling content for website, digital products, exhibitions, gallery panels and interpretive materials that inspire curiosity and foster a deeper appreciation of nature and natural history.
In this role, the incumbent collaborates with scientists, curators, researchers and colleagues from across the organization to transform complex scientific and institutional information into clear, engaging and accessible stories for a wide range of audiences.
Whether editing exhibition text, web pages, digital content or educational materials, they will ensure that information is accurate, meaningful and relevant. They will champion audience-centred communication by applying principles of plain language, accessibility, and inclusion. Responsibilities span the full content-development lifecycle, including research, writing, editing, factchecking, proofreading, content testing and evaluation.
The incumbent helps ensure that projects are delivered on time, meet high editorial standards and support the Museum’s strategic objectives. In addition, they will contribute to shaping the Museum’s editorial practices by helping develop style guides, content standards, templates and workflows.

Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Education and training:
A degree, diploma, or certificate from a post-secondary institution in science communication, communications, journalism, linguistics, editing, publishing, museum studies, digital media, or another field relevant to the position, OR an equivalent combination of experience, education and training.
Certification or formal training in English editing would be an asset.
