Job summary

Sandvik seeks a Workshop Planning Supervisor to lead a planning team and develop workshop processes across facilities in Lively, ON and Val-d’Or, QC. You will manage resource allocation, schedules and cross-department coordination to maximize throughput in a fast-paced workshop environment.

You will drive continuous improvement using ERP tools like Maximo, maintain budgets, and ensure safety standards. Travel to Canadian sites is required and bilingual French/English is valued.

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary education or equivalent experience in business/operations.
  • Proven planning, maintenance, or workshop-management experience; supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience leading a team and coordinating across functions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning team to ensure efficient workflow and performance.
  • Review scope of rebuilds and new equipment, supporting planners to meet targets.
  • Coordinate with Sales, ESS, and shop supervisors to maximize efficiency.
  • Oversee planner training and cross-training for flexibility.
  • Evaluate and optimize workshop schedules within labor budgets.
  • Coordinate with vendors/contractors for specialized repairs.
  • Ensure accurate reporting of schedules, tasks, equipment status and delays.
  • Investigate variances and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations.

Currently, we have an opening for a Workshop Planning Supervisor. In this pivotal role, you will lead the development of workshop processes, manage resource allocation, and coordinate with shop supervisors and other departments to maximize the efficient workflow through the shops across Canada.

Are you a skilled, detail-oriented leader with a knack for planning and supporting maintenance operations in a fast-paced workshop environment? This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a planning team, coordinate schedules, and contribute to the success of our workshops in Lively, Surrey, Val-d’Or and Miramichi.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Lead and manage the planning team to ensure efficient workflow and performance.
  • Review Rebuild and New Equipment scopes, supporting planners in meeting work-in-progress targets.
  • Support the coordination of work with Sales, ESS, and shop supervisors to maximize efficiency.
  • Oversee planner training and cross-training for skill development and operational flexibility.
  • Evaluate and optimize workshop schedules, ensuring adherence to timelines and labor budgets.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs or services.
  • Ensure accurate reporting of schedules, completed tasks, equipment status, and delays.
  • Investigate and address variances in plans vs. actual outcomes, implementing corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations, promoting a safe work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Will Bring Along
  • Postsecondary education in business, operations or equivalent experience.
  • Proven track record in planning, maintenance, or workshop management; supervisory experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team effectively.
  • Experience in mining, heavy machinery, or industrial equipment sector is considered an asset.
  • Expertise in workflow optimization and resource allocation in a workshop or industrial setting.
  • Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with ERP systems and other relevant tools and software, such as Maximo.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed to facilities located across Canada.
  • Bilingual in both French & English
