Air Canada in Vancouver is seeking a Workforce Attendance & Resource Supervisor to support the operational readiness of Maintenance by coordinating workforce attendance, manpower planning, training and qualification tracking, payroll support, and employee administration.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor staffing levels, manpower requirements, schedules, vacation planning, workforce movements, and operational coverage to support Maintenance operational needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Support workforce planning activities, including shift bids, vacation bids, staffing adjustments, recruitment requisitions, transfers, layoffs, recalls, and related workforce transactions in accordance with operational requirements and collective agreements.
  • Provide workforce planning recommendations to management through reporting, trend analysis, workforce metrics, and ongoing collaboration with operational leaders and internal stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with management teams and internal stakeholders to support operational workforce requirements.
  • Monitor workforce qualification levels and identify upcoming qualification, certification, and training requirements that may impact operational readiness.
  • Produce reports and analyses related to workforce qualifications, training completion, and authorization status to support operational planning and compliance activities.
  • Coordinate employee attendance and absence management activities, including absence reporting, record maintenance, attendance tracking, and ensuring accurate documentation and coding.
  • Monitor attendance trends and provide guidance and support to employees and leaders on attendance-related matters, policies, and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate return-to-work, accommodation, and modified work activities in collaboration with Disability Management, Labour Relations, leaders, and employees, ensuring appropriate documentation and follow-up.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide administrative support for attendance-related cases, workplace injuries, grievances, arbitrations, and other Labour Relations requirements.
  • Provide guidance and support to administrative teams across Vancouver, Calgary, and Winnipeg on payroll, attendance, workforce administration processes, and system enhancements.
  • Act as a liaison between Tech Ops, Human Resources, Payroll, and local administration teams to support the resolution of payroll, attendance, scheduling, and employee administration matters, while identifying opportunities for process improvements.
  • Administer and interpret collective agreement provisions, local agreements, attendance policies, and workforce planning processes.
  • Liaise with local union representatives and shop committees regarding workforce planning, training, scheduling, staffing, postings, and employee-related matters.
  • Work closely with Labour Relations on investigations, grievances, accommodation matters, and workforce planning initiatives.
  • Support ACM safety, security, and operational compliance initiatives.
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of Safety Management Systems (SMS), IOSA standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in investigations related to workforce planning and operational support functions.

The Workforce Attendance & Resource Supervisor is responsible for supporting the operational readiness of Air Canada Maintenance by coordinating workforce attendance, manpower planning, training and qualification tracking, payroll administration support, and workforce-related employee administration activities.

This role combines attendance management responsibilities with resource planning and administrative support functions, including monitoring staffing levels, supporting training compliance, coordinating workforce schedules and transactions, and acting as a liaison between Operations, Workforce Planning, Training, Human Resources, Labour Relations, Payroll, local administration teams, and frontline employees.

The position also provides guidance and oversight to IAC administrative staff and supports process improvements related to attendance, scheduling, workforce planning, payroll administration, training qualifications, and compliance with collective agreements, company policies, and operational requirements.

Responsibilities
Workforce Planning & Manpower Management

Qualifications
Education

Experience
  • Experience in workforce planning, manpower management, attendance management, labour relations, payroll administration, human resources, or airline operations.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment with collective agreement administration.
  • Knowledge of airline maintenance operations and workforce scheduling is an asset.
  • Experience managing employee accommodation, attendance, rehabilitation, and return-to-work processes is preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong knowledge of workforce planning principles, attendance management, and labour relations practices.
  • Understanding of collective agreements, employment legislation, Workers Compensation processes, and accommodation requirements.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and make effective decisions in a fast-paced operational environment.
