Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Work Assistant for the department of Medicine at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

This job requires completion of on-going human research projects the Sunderram lab, by assisting in obtaining consent and completion of research questionnaires, inputting data, ensuring quality control, and in data analysis.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Work closely with supervising research coordinator and principal investigator(s) to organize research activities and maintain effective communication between project staff.
  • Follow protocol guidelines in obtaining consent from study participants and the collection of specimens and data. Ensure compliance with protocol guidelines and requirements of regulatory agencies (such as IRB guidelines); identify problems and/or inconsistencies and monitor and recommend corrective action as appropriate.
  • Assist with and oversee ongoing research studies based on the research protocols, including data collection, database entry and management, statistical analysis and administrative duties.
  • Supervise research activities, maintain study databases at the highest level of completeness and accuracy.
  • Maintain documents required for the regulatory binder and any other document repositories required by the principal investigator, or regulatory entities.

  • Must be capable of independent decision-making, and multitasking.
  • To be successful, the candidate must have excellent organization, communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of the statistical software programs and computational analysis.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, walking, talking or hearing. No special vision requirements.
  • Work Environment: Laboratory environment. Moderate Noise.
