Based out of the Electrical Division Edmonton (EDE) location, the Wiring Technician will report to the Manufacturing Supervisor of the Wiring department. The Wiring Technician will be responsible for assisting the manufacturing process for various products and materials through electrical part installation.

Essential Responsibilities

  1. Electrical part installation such as: relays, meters, switches, etc.
  2. Wiring: Anchoring, tie-wrapping, routing, push buttons, flagging, & wire tagging.
  3. Crimping and Wire/Cable Stripping.
  4. Promotes a safety culture as well as attends all safety meetings.
  5. Ensure quality by following standard work/process instructions and identifying any potential risks to product quality.
  6. Ensure that work areas remain clean and well organized.
  7. Other duties as required.

Job Requirements - Core Competencies

  1. Knowledge of hand, electric, air tools and some vibrating tools.
  2. Conscientious, thorough, accurate and reliable when performing and completing job tasks.
  3. Ability to read prints including: specification sheets, wiring diagrams, schematics, three-line drawings, wiring lists, and part drawings.
  4. Able to work effectively within the team and around other departments and their activities.
  5. Ability to learn and adhere to all manufacturing policies and practices to ensure adherence to ISO requirements.
  6. Must have a basic command of the English language, both written and verbal.

Qualifications

  1. Minimum education level of a High School Diploma is required.
  2. 0-1 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  3. Basic ability performing mathematical calculations.
  4. Ability to read a tape measure (this includes conversions from fraction to decimal and conversely from decimal to fractions).
  5. Safety training certificates are an asset for the position.

Working Conditions

  1. Safety sensitive position in a temperature controlled manufacturing or industrial environment with occasional outside activities.
  2. Required to wear personal protective equipment at all times (i.e., hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety harnesses as required) and respirators when required.
  3. Must be able to work from all types of ladders (step ladders, "A" frame ladders and all size extension ladders) and scaffolding.
  4. Working at heights usually no higher than 30 feet in the air on or using proper lift equipment.

Physical Requirements

  1. Able to maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs.
  2. Bending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction in a repetitive manner continuously.
  3. Continuous standing, walking 50-300 foot distances for long periods of time with only occasional sitting.
  4. Must be able to climb stairs frequently throughout the shift.
  5. Able to frequently look over shoulders, work with both arms above shoulders and use both arms at full length frequently.
  6. Using upper extremities to apply or exert a force continuously up to 50lbs.
  7. Ability to use hand tools such as tin snips, hammer, and power tools (some vibrating), for long periods of time with frequent repetition.
