Job summary

Mackenzie Investments is seeking a Winter Intern for AI Strategy & Enablement to help develop social media strategies targeted at long-term investors. You will research investor communities, test content concepts, and build lightweight AI tools for scalable insights.

The role runs January–April 2027, full-time (37.5 hours/week), with a hybrid office schedule. Open to students returning to school after the internship, in a related undergraduate or graduate program.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in business, finance, economics, computer science, engineering, data science or a related discipline.

Position:

We are currently hiring an intern looking for a winter term position, January to April 2027. Candidates in an undergraduate program that will be returning to school after the internship to be eligible to apply.

This is a full-time position requiring 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Candidates must be eligible to work full-time for the entire duration of the program.

The Winter Intern, AI Strategy & Enablement supports Mackenzie Investments in building stronger connections with serious, long-term investors through emerging digital and social channels, while testing how artificial intelligence can make that work more scalable and sustainable. Working directly with the AI Enablement team and in partnership with Marketing and other business teams, the intern will combine social media research, audience insight, content experimentation, business analysis and hands-on use of leading AI tools. A primary focus of the term will be helping Mackenzie understand how to establish an authentic presence with digitally engaged investors who use social platforms to learn about markets, share portfolios and make investment decisions. The intern will help identify what these investors value, which topics and formats resonate, how Mackenzie can contribute credibly, and how engagement can be measured and improved. The role is also designed to create capabilities that outlast the internship. The intern will build lightweight AI tools, agents and repeatable workflows that can support social listening, audience research, content ideation, investment education, competitive intelligence and measurement after the term ends. Success is measured by progress in understanding and reaching this investor audience, the usefulness of the tools and workflows created, and the quality of insights and recommendations produced.

Social media strategy, audience research, and channel development

• Help develop and execute an approach for reaching serious, long-term investors through emerging social and digital communities.
• Research investor communities, behaviours, conversations, creators and content formats to understand what drives trust, engagement and investment consideration.
• Support day-to-day experimentation with content, community participation and audience engagement in partnership with Marketing and appropriate review processes.
• Analyze engagement and audience signals to identify topics, formats and approaches that resonate with long-term investors.
• Translate findings into recommendations for how Mackenzie can build a credible, useful and differentiated presence in these communities.

AI tools and durable social intelligence capabilities

• Build lightweight AI agents, workflows and tools that make social media research and engagement more scalable.
• Develop reusable capabilities for social listening, trend detection, audience analysis, content ideation, competitive monitoring and performance measurement.
• Explore how AI can identify recurring investor questions and convert social signals into useful insights for Marketing, Product, Sales and Investment Management.
• Document and design tools so they can be maintained and used by Mackenzie after the internship ends.
• Test new AI models and capabilities where they can materially improve the quality or efficiency of this work.

Investor and market research

• Research the needs and behaviours of digitally engaged investors, with particular focus on investors building wealth for long-term goals rather than short-term speculation.
• Assess how investors discover, research, compare and discuss investment products across social media, online communities, search and AI assistants.
• Monitor relevant competitors, financial creators, platforms and emerging distribution models.
• Synthesize findings into concise insights and implications for Mackenzie's product, marketing and distribution strategies.

Content and experimentation

• Work with Marketing and subject-matter experts to identify investment topics that can be translated into useful, credible social content.
• Use AI to prototype content concepts, educational formats, recurring series and other approaches suited to digitally engaged investors.
• Help design small experiments to test hypotheses about audience, message, format and engagement.
• Capture learnings and develop repeatable playbooks for future social media activity.

Broader AI Enablement projects

• Contribute to selected AI Enablement and Innovation Lab projects outside the primary social-media mandate.
• Apply research, prototyping and AI skills to emerging business questions where short-cycle experimentation can create value.
• Share reusable prompting, agent and workflow patterns with the broader AI Enablement team.

Education

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in business, finance, economics, computer science, engineering, data science or a related discipline. Coursework or demonstrated interest spanning both business and technology.

Experience

• Demonstrated experience using social media and generative AI tools through school, work, investing, content creation, community participation or personal projects. Previous internship, project or extracurricular experience involving social media, digital marketing, investing, financial services, research, analytics or emerging technology.
• AI and technology fluency
• Strong interest in AI and digital communities, with the ability to learn unfamiliar tools quickly. Comfortable experimenting with generative AI, agents, social platforms and new digital capabilities. Experience with social listening or analytics tools, Python, APIs, data analysis, automation, low-code/no-code tools, agent development or visualization.
• Research and analytical skills
• Strong research, analytical and structured problem-solving skills. Ability to understand online communities, distinguish signal from noise, assess sources and turn audience behaviour into actionable insights. Experience with audience research, social media analytics, market research, competitive analysis, investment research or data analysis.
• Communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong written and verbal communication, sound judgment, attention to detail and intellectual curiosity. Able to communicate naturally in digital environments while adapting to a regulated financial-services context. Experience creating digital or social content, participating in investment communities, preparing presentations or communicating findings to stakeholders.

The expected annual base salary range (prorated for the term) for this role is $49,000 - $51,000, which is determined based on year of study, IGM program, geographic location and candidate’s skills, knowledge and experience. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for paid time off.
