Job summary

The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking Spare Winter Equipment Operators for multiple bases in Zone 2 and Zone 3, including Baddeck, Boularderie, Little Narrows, Cape North, Ingonish, Strathlorne, Cheticamp, Pleasant Bay and Margaree. Training and 45 hours of paid plowing will be provided, with a driving assessment using a one-person-truck-plow.

The position is seasonal and hours are not guaranteed. Pay is $29.12 per hour, with potential overtime and a Winter Wage Guarantee; CUPE NSPG union

Qualifications

• Two years of experience or acceptable equivalent.
• Minimum Class III license with air brake endorsement.
• Reading and writing skills required to understand documentation and logs.

Responsibilities

• Operate snow removal equipment (snowplows, graders, loaders).
• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and daily logs.
• Potentially assist with signs, road surface repairs, and traffic control.
