Job summary

Wine & Beyond is seeking a Wine Manager to lead a multimillion-dollar store unit in Alberta, driving sales and delivering exceptional customer service. You will coach a large team, manage scheduling, and ensure adherence to safety and liquor regulations under SNDL policies.

The role reports to the General Manager and emphasizes training and product launches.

Qualifications

• Minimum, 2+ years in retail environment.
• 2+ years supervisory/management experience preferred.
• First-Aid training is an asset.
• ProServe/Serving It Right certificate is an asset.
• WSET certification or wine-related training is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction of store operations in partnership with General Manager.
• Train and develop team members; manage scheduling and coaching sessions.
• Deliver exemplary customer service and resolve customer complaints.
• Ensure regulatory requirements (OHS, LP, ProServe) are met and training is up to date.
• Oversee merchandising, pricing guidelines, and product launches.

Train and develop team members while establishing a strong sales culture with accountability for operational excellence and achievement of financial and regulatory standards.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:People Management Skills• Create a work culture that makes your store an inviting place to work• Be a role model who coaches, mentors, and inspires team members• Delegate tasks to team members and set priorities• Communicates in a clear and concise manner to team, leading effective huddles/meetings/coaching sessions, relay pertinent information• Participate in department recruitment and create succession plans for the store• Support and coach team members to improve any performance gaps; conduct ongoing coaching for improvements• Completes and holds team accountable to complete required training within timeframes• Creates and/or monitors the creation of efficient department weekly scheduling for both sales and support functionsCustomer Offering• Deliver exemplary customer service• Resolve customer complaints regarding sales and service; inform all customer complaints to General Manager• Create a culture that has a passion for wine• Accountable for product rollouts and product launches• Review customer surveys and react appropriately• Understand and utilize local market tends• Evaluate programs and promotions for effectiveness and offer recommendations to General ManagerFinancial• Ensure that goals will be met through appropriate planning and organization of labour, inventory, and finances for short and long-term success• Meet or exceed department financial targets through partnership with General Manager• Review and monitor Loss Prevention program to protect the company’s inventory and assets in partnership with General Manager• Review financial document (invoices, costs etc.) for accuracy• Monitor and make appropriate adjustments to scheduling to achieve labor cost in partnership with General ManagerDay to Day Operations• Ensure department follows merchandising and pricing guidelines• Ensure department is presentable and relay any maintenance issues to General Manager• Execute merchandising programs and track results• Manage communication (mail, email, voicemail)• Maintain department inventory levels• Respond to customer complaints• Manage department inventory ordering and receiving• Organize and/or attend OHS and LP meetings and training sessions• Actively aim to increase and share industry knowledge on wine• Develop relationships with store stakeholders• Set daily tasks for the store• Review flyers, upcoming events, and promotions; execute appropriatelyRegulatory Adherence• Observe that OHS, LP, ProServe/Serving It Right and other regulatory requirements and procedures are implemented and adhered to• Participate in health inspections, audits and required corrective actions• Maintain First-Aid, LP and OHS Training• Maintain ProServe/Serving It Right and ensure employees maintain ProServe/Serving It Right• Ensure AGLC/BC LRS and other government guidelines are met• Adheres to all SNDL Inc. policies, with a focus on Social ResponsibilityQualifications:Work Experience• Minimum, 2-years’ experience in retail environment• Minimum, 2-years’ supervisory and/or management experience (preferred)Education• High School Diploma or equivalent• First-Aid training considered an asset• ProServe/Serving It Right Certificate considered an asset• WSET Certification and/or other wine-related training considered an assetOther Skills and Capabilities• Highly self-motivated• Customer service driven• Effective leadership of large team• Strong sales background• Proven track record of success• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)• Must be able to pass a Background Check• Must have access to reliable transportationWhy Work With Us?At Wine & Beyond we invest in our people.
