Job description

Education: Other trades certificate or diploma

Experience: 5 years or more

Tasks:

  1. Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems
  2. Inspect and test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions
  3. Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of automotive systems
  4. Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of truck-trailer systems
  5. Repair or replace mechanical units or components
  6. Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer's specifications
  7. Estimate parts and labour cost to perform vehicle maintenance and repairs
  8. Perform scheduled maintenance service
  9. Test and adjust units to specifications
  10. Advise customers on work performed and future repair requirements
  11. Complete reports to record problems and work performed
  12. Coach and instruct apprentices
  13. Provide customer service

Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses:

  1. Tire, wheel and rim mechanic
  2. Automotive Service Technician (Fuel and Electrical Systems) Trade Certification
  3. Automotive Service Technician (Steering, Suspension and Brakes) Trade Certification
  4. First Aid Certificate
