Job summary

Enviros Wilderness Facilitator - Shunda is a role within Enviros that leads multi-day wilderness trips and anchors Adventure Therapy for young men in recovery. You will plan, supervise, and adapt expeditions to therapeutic goals while upholding safety and ethical practices.

You will collaborate with program Supervisors and Therapists to ensure trips are purposeful, safe, and integrated with clients' addiction recovery goals.

Qualifications

• Professional experience in outdoor education, wilderness leadership, expedition programming, or related field.
• Strong technical and leadership skills across relevant wilderness activities.
• 80-hour Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification.
• Robust outdoor logbook demonstrating significant personal and professional wilderness experience.
• Strong judgment, risk-management, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary treatment team.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and oversee multi-day wilderness trips including hiking, canoeing, climbing, and other adventure-based activities.
• Work closely with Program Supervisors and Therapists to ensure trips are purposeful, safe, and grounded in Adventure Therapy principles.

• Maintain high standards of wilderness safety, risk management, and professional outdoor practice.
• Organize, maintain, inventory, and order outdoor equipment and supplies.
• Participate in scheduling and coordinating the outdoor program.
• Mentor, train, and assess wilderness staff for readiness to become trip staff.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with outdoor industry partners, organizations, and professional networks.
• Contribute to the ongoing development and quality of the Adventure Therapy program.

Shunda Creek Recovery Center is a wilderness-based addiction treatment program serving young men aged 18–26. We are seeking an experienced Wilderness Facilitator to lead and oversee the outdoor tripping component of our Adventure Therapy program.

This is an opportunity for an experienced outdoor professional to use their technical skills, leadership, and passion for the outdoors to support meaningful therapeutic experiences for young men in recovery.

QualificationsRequired:

• Experience in Adventure Therapy, social work, addiction treatment, mental health, or youth work.
• Qualifications through the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides (ACMG), Outdoor Council of Canada (OCC), Paddle Canada, or other recognized outdoor organizations.
• Experience mentoring or assessing developing outdoor leaders.
• Existing relationships within the outdoor industry.
