In this role, you'll serve as the site's safety facilitator, orchestrating our Global WHS Program with passion and precision. You'll partner with Operations leadership to embed safety into daily operations, using data-driven insights to create innovative solutions that reduce risk and improve productivity. Your ability to build trust, influence change, and drive results will be essential as you lead risk assessments and turn safety data into actionable strategies.

Leadership is central to this role. You'll build and develop a high-performing team of WHS professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.

Key job responsibilities

One focus area of the Amazon Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) mission is to provide tools, resources, and environments that promote safe, efficient, and healthy behaviors, encouraging employees to proactively manage their health and wellbeing. To support this, Amazon is seeking an experienced and innovative WHS Manager to join our team. This role will serve as the site’s designated first aid provider, coordinating and implementing the Amazon Global Program. The Site WHS Manager will partner with the Operations team to ensure compliance with all applicable local, regional, and federal regulations and to execute company WHS policies. This individual will lead initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risks, ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for our associates. Demonstrating the ability to build trust and influence change through comprehensive risk assessments and data analysis is crucial.

A day in the life

The Site WHS Manager will lead and develop a team of WHS professionals. They will create leadership development plans, communicate expectations, and provide feedback to ensure team performance aligns with Amazon’s standards. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Providing guidance to ensure compliance with Amazon WHS policies
  • Understanding local, regional, and federal regulations and company policies
  • Leading initiatives to reduce ergonomic and conditional risks
  • Building strong relationships with site and regional leadership
  • Monitoring site performance against EHS standards and addressing deficiencies
  • Analyzing WHS metrics and incident trends to allocate resources effectively
  • Conducting site WHS audits and implementing corrective actions
  • Ensuring accurate recordkeeping and compliance with global standards
  • Training and ensuring awareness of WHS responsibilities among leadership and associates
  • Working flexible shifts, including days, nights, and weekends
Basic qualifications
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in EHS or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience managing multiple teams or sites
Preferred qualifications
  • Experience implementing lean principles and process improvements
  • Experience in distribution centers or manufacturing EHS with diverse employee populations of at least 250 people
