Job summary

STRIVE is seeking an experienced Welding Supervisor to oversee an afternoon-shift team in a fast-paced Hamilton, ON manufacturing environment. You’ll lead welding and fabrication operations, and provide oversight across the machine shop, sandblasting, and assembly areas while delegating tasks and maintaining safety standards.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of supervisory experience in welding/fabrication, strong leadership and communication skills, and hands-on welding expertise.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of supervisory experience in welding, fabrication or manufacturing.
  • Strong background in welding and fabrication.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, delegate and manage a team.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Hands-on leadership to support welding and fabrication work.
  • Experience operating a forklift and overhead crane; in-house certification possible.
  • First Aid certification is preferred.
  • Solid computer skills including MS Office (Excel/Outlook).
  • Clear, effective English communication within a close-knit team.
  • CWB certification (Level 1 or 2) or equivalent knowledge preferred.
  • Understanding of MIG, flux-core, and stick welding; blueprint reading.
  • Machining, assembly, or maintenance experience is a plus; organized paperwork/documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate a multi-department team across welding, fabrication, and machine shop.
  • Oversee daily welding/fabrication operations while providing leadership to other areas.
  • Delegate tasks, set priorities, and give clear direction to staff.
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance, training, and support to welders and fabricators.
  • Inspect welds and ensure quality meets specs.
  • Monitor productivity, quality, safety, and workflow during the shift.
  • Support scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow optimization.
  • Address staff concerns and operational issues promptly.
  • Lead toolbox talks and safety meetings; ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality and Engineering to resolve issues and improve processes.
  • Maintain production paperwork and documentation; foster a positive team environment.

THE ROLE

Are you an experienced Welding Supervisor with a strong background in welding and fabrication? We’re looking for a hands-on leader to oversee an established afternoon-shift team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment in Hamilton, ON.

As the Welding Supervisor, you’ll lead a team with a primary focus on welding and fabrication, while also providing leadership and oversight across the machine shop, sandblasting, and assembly areas. You’ll be responsible for delegating work, maintaining productivity and safety standards, addressing employee and operational issues, and providing hands-on welding and fabrication support when required.

The ideal candidate is a strong people leader who can build relationships with an experienced, close-knit team, while ensuring operations across multiple departments run smoothly throughout the shift.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervise and coordinate a team across multiple departments

  • Conduct visual inspections and verify weld quality meets company and customer specifications
  • Monitor productivity, quality, safety, and workflow throughout the shift
  • Support scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow optimization
  • Address employee concerns, conflicts, and operational issues in a timely manner
  • Lead toolbox talks and safety meetings while ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to resolve issues and improve processes
  • Maintain organized production paperwork and documentation
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and collaborative team environment
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum 3-5 years of supervisory experience within a welding, fabrication, or manufacturing environment
  • Strong background in welding and fabrication
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, delegate, and manage a team
  • Strong communication, organizational, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Hands-on leadership style with the ability to support welding and fabrication work
  • Experience operating a forklift and overhead crane; certification can be completed in-house
