The Welder role reports to the Mechanical Superintendent and involves welding, cutting, and assembly on heavy equipment and trucks. Preference is given to Red Seal 456A holders, with a minimum 3 years of weld/fitter experience; a valid

Qualifications

• Red Seal 456A preferred, or welder/fitter with 3+ years experience considered.
• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Ontario Class G license with clean driving abstract.
• Physically able to bend, lift up to 75 lbs and work in varied conditions.
• Must supply tools for all duties performed.
• Self-starter, able to work without direct supervision.
• Overtime including weekends/holidays or different shifts.

Responsibilities

• Weld and cut using GMAW, MIG, Plasma, and Oxygen/Acetylene.
• Weld and cut metal of various sizes in all positions.
• Repair damaged components to improve safety and reliability.
• Fabricate and weld on equipment such as trucks, trailers, and road equipment.
• Use hand, air, and power tools to complete welding operations.
• Perform minor mechanical disassembly/reassembly as needed.
• Follow OHSA safety rules for pressurized gas cylinders and equipment maintenance.
• Participate in safety meetings and keep work areas clean and organized.
• Other duties as assigned.

Reporting to the Mechanical Superintendent, the Welder is responsible for:

• Perform proficiently at welding and cutting fundamentals that include GMAW, MIG, Plasma and Oxygen/Acetylene;
• Demonstrate the capability of welding and cutting metal of various dimensions in all positions;
• Capable of repairing damaged, corroded and/or component defects as necessary to increase level of safety and reliability;
• Demonstrate attention to detail when fabricating and welding on equipment that is operated by Emcon Services Inc, not limited to heavy/light duty trucks, trailers, snow plows/salters/dump body, road cleaning equipment, off-road equipment, mowing equipment and various accessories and attachments;
• Demonstrate proficient capability of using hand tools, air tools and electric power tools consistent with industry standards;
• Perform minor mechanical work to dismantle/reassemble components to complete welding operation;
• Ensure compliance with safe handling, storage and replacement of pressurized gas cylinders as per OHSA;
• Perform maintenance to welding equipment as necessary to maintain optimal efficiency;
• Demonstrate good housekeeping and organization practices while complying with all Health and Safety Policies;
• Participate in safety meetings on a regular basis and collaborate with team members as required
• Other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate must have/be:

• Preference for licensed Red Seal 456A certificate or will consider welder/fitter experience of 3 or more years;
• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent;
• Valid Class G Ontario license in good standing and be able to prove a clean Driver’s abstract;
• Must be physically capable of bending, lifting up to 75lbs and work in various indoor and outdoor conditions;
• Must supply tools required for all duties performed;
• Must be a self-starter and able to work without direct supervision;
• Ability to work overtime including weekends, holidays, or different shifts.

The role is a unionized role.

Pay Rate: Based on experience to a maximum of $43.18/hr
