Job summary

Bouchier seeks a Welder Journeyperson to join our Fort McKay operations. You will read weld blueprints, follow ABSA/CWB standards, and produce high-quality welds across various metals. The role uses SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW and related processes in a heavy industrial setting.

We offer a full-time schedule of 7 days on / 7 days off, with 12-hour days. Candidates should have a Red Seal or Alberta Journeyman, relevant oilfield experience, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • Inter-provincial Red Seal or Alberta Journeyman Welder certification.
  • B Pressure Welding Certification.
  • ABSA Performance Qualification Card.
  • 3 years experience in related field, oil and construction experience preferred.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
  • CSO (Common Safety Orientation) certificate is required.
  • WHMIS.
  • Must be fluent in English (read, speak, write).

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals and processes.
  • Examine welds and ensure that they meet CWB, ABSA standards and specifications.
  • Ensure the finished weld is uniform and free of indications e.g.; grapes, crates, porosity, undercut and lack of fusion.
  • Utilize welding techniques: SMAW, OAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, PAW, etc.
  • Ability to weld stainless steel, iron and heavy metals; aluminum, nickel, titanium and other alloys; composites.

Position Summary

Position: Welder Journeyperson

Type: Full Time

Location: Fort McKay, Incubator Park

Schedule: 7 on / 7 off, 12 hour per day

Compensation Details
  • Vacation pay at 6% - paid out bi-weekly upon start date

Primary Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals and processes;

  • Utilize the following techniques: Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Oxy-acetylene welding (OAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW), Plasma Arc Welding (PAW), etc.
  • Ability to weld stainless steel, iron and heavy metals; aluminum, nickel, titanium and other alloys; compositesOther related duties as assigned
Education & Experience
  • Inter-provincial (Red Seal) or Alberta certified Journeyman Welder certificate
  • B Pressure Welding Certification
  • ABSA Performance Qualification Card
  • 3 years experience in a related field, previous oil and construction experience preferred
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License

  • Must be a self-starter with demonstrated ability to make sound decisions
