Job summary

Bouchier is seeking a Journeyperson Welder for a full-time role in Fort McKay, AB. The position operates on a 7 on/7 off schedule with 12-hour days, offering health benefits, pension, and advancement opportunities.

Qualifications

• Inter-provincial Red Seal or Alberta Journeyman Welder certification is required.
• 3 years experience in a related field; oil & construction background preferred.
• Valid Class 5 Driver09icense is required.
• CSO and ABSA qualifications are required.
• WHMIS training completed.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings and manuals.
• Examine welds and ensure compliance with CWB and ABSA standards.
• Ensure finished welds are uniform and free of porosity, undercut and lack of fusion.
• Utilize SMAW, OAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, PAW welding techniques.
• Weld stainless steel, iron, aluminum and other alloys.

Location: Fort McKay, Incubator Park

Schedule: 7 on / 7 off, 12 hour per day

Primary Responsibilities

• Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals and processes;
• Examine welds and ensure that they meet CWB, ABSA standards and specifications
• Ensure the finished weld is uniform and free of indications e.g.; grapes, crates, porosity, undercut and lack of fusion
• Utilize the following techniques: Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Oxy-acetylene welding (OAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW), Plasma Arc Welding (PAW), etc.
• Ability to weld stainless steel, iron and heavy metals; aluminum, nickel, titanium and other alloys; compositesOther related duties as assigned

Education & Experience

• Inter-provincial (Red Seal) or Alberta certified Journeyman Welder certificate
• B Pressure Welding Certification
• ABSA Performance Qualification Card
• 3 years experience in a related field, previous oil and construction experience preferred
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
• CSO (Common Safety Orientation) certificate is required
• WHMIS
• Must be a self-starter with demonstrated ability to make sound decisions
• Proven ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
• Demonstrated problem solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Good written and oral communication skills.
