Job summary

A leading equipment service provider in Fort McMurray seeks a Welder/Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice to troubleshoot and repair Caterpillar equipment. This permanent position involves maintaining safety standards and providing excellent customer service. Ideal candidates will have a Journeyperson Welder Certification and a dedication to safety. Qualifications

  • Experience as a Heavy Duty Technician would be considered an asset.
  • Understanding of the Caterpillar product line will be considered an asset.
  • Engine and/or component rebuilding experience would be considered an asset.

Position Overview: Reporting directly to the Service Supervisor, the Welder/Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice will be responsible for troubleshooting and overseeing repairs on a variety of Caterpillar equipment. This position is based at our Fort McMurray Townshop facility working a 7x7 shift rotation.



Job Description

Major Job Functions



  • Trouble shooting equipment and perform equipment repairs

  • Interface with customers, products and sales support

  • Working with the Supervisor on various tasks

  • Providing support with reference to on-site safety requirements

  • Maintain Finning Customer Service Commitment

  • Various related duties as required


Specific Skills & Experience



  • Journeyperson Welder Certification

  • Willing to work towards Heavy Equipment Technician Certification

  • Experience as a Heavy Duty Technician would be considered an asset

  • Dedication to safety

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both written and verbal

  • Understanding of the Caterpillar product line will be considered an asset

  • Engine and/or component rebuilding experience would be considered an asset

  • Transmission or Hydraulic testing would be considered an asset

  • Experience with Lawson, SIS (Service Information System) and warranty systems considered assets



Notes


  • This shop position is on a 7x7 shift rotation based out of our Fort McMurray townshop facility

  • Candidate selection will be in compliance with the terms of the current Collective Agreement

  • Please note that any future shift changes that may occur will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement
