Job summary

Trench Group in Scarborough, ON is seeking a mid‑level welder to join our manufacturing team. You will setup and weld components across multiple lines, follow SOPs, read blueprints, and pass weld tests administered by the QA Welding Supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Entry level welding experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and weld spiders, parts, and coils on all lines per drawings and procedures.
  • Operate welding machines and adjust for different tasks as required.
  • Pass weld tests as specified by QA Welding Supervisor.
  • Stage welded materials for transfer to other departments.
  • Read drawings and other manufacturing documents for correct assembly.
  • Monitor production orders and adjust workflows for efficiency.
  • Handle tools and equipment and maintain cleanliness per 5S.

Safety
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Report any safety hazards or incidents to the supervisor immediately.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S principles.
  • Participate in regular housekeeping activities to ensure a tidy and efficient workspace.
  • Ensure proper disposal of waste materials by transporting them to designated waste disposal sites.
Quality
  • Ensure consistent and reliable processes by following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality control guidelines.
  • Report any quality issues or defects to the supervisor immediately.
  • Record (foresight, SAP, traveler … etc) production activities (std. and actual hrs., production#, unit# etc.) accurately as per company’s requirements.
Maintenance
  • Perform routine and preventive upkeep (including cleaning) and inspections of dept. equipment to ensure proper functionality.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or needed repairs to the Team Lead or supervisor immediately.
  • Ensure proper tools management (storage, maintenance, etc.). Maintain an accurate inventory of tools.
Specific Responsibilities
  • Setup and weld spiders, parts, coils across all manufacturing lines as per drawings, procedures, and special instructions. Setup different welding machines (include. robotic welder) for various welding tasks.
  • Pass all welding certifications (47.1 Stainless Steel, 47.2 Aluminum & Robotics in flat, vertical, and horizontal positions) and re-certification tests by CWB.
  • Fits bus bars. Weld and braze cable & wire. Prepare and weld D-Q rings and terminals.
  • Stage welded materials and parts for transfer to other departments.
  • Use measuring equipment, hand tools, air tools, power tools and various welding instruments.
  • Check and read drawings, blueprints and other manufacturing documents.
  • Replenish material as needed for continuous production. Report material shortage to Supervisor immediately.
  • Monitor assigned production orders and make machine/workflow adjustments to maintain efficiency.
  • Operate various Powered Industrial Trucks, and cranes. Operate various scissor lifts and work at heights.
  • Train in all aspects of Welding 210/220 operations; perform and successfully pass weld tests administered by QA Welding Supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or designate.
Requirements
  • Entry level experience in Welding.
  • Basic understanding of Welding practices and terminology.
  • Understanding and experience using hand tools (manual, pneumatic and electric).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Good listener. Willing to undergo training, follow trainer instructions, and remain open to new ideas and manufacturing methods.
  • Excellent proficiency in English including demonstrated ability to follow verbal/written instructions and complete technical paperwork when needed
  • Flexibility to work 3 shift rotation is a requirement of the position.
  • Excellent attendance.
