Job summary

Trench Canada in Scarborough, ON is seeking a mid-level Tester to join our lab. You will perform high voltage tests, calibrate equipment, and record data with accuracy, then prepare concise reports for engineers.

You must have a Community College diploma in Electrical/Electronic or equivalent, 2+ years hands-on LV/HV experience, and strong English skills. Shift rotation and union environment are part of the role.

Qualifications

  • Community College diploma in Electrical/Electronic or associate’s electrical certification is required.
  • 2+ years relevant experience with hands-on experience working on LV or HV circuit preferred.
  • Excellent proficiency in English including demonstrated ability to follow verbal/written instructions and complete technical paperwork when needed.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical AC & DC schematics is required.

Responsibilities

  • Test execution and conduct high voltage tests according to established procedures and standards.
  • Set up and calibrate test equipment, apply high voltage, and monitor equipment performance.
  • Accurately record test data including voltage, current, time, and observations.
  • Prepare test reports with a summary of procedures, data, and results.
  • Communicate results effectively to engineers, team members, and supervisors.
  • Follow safety procedures when handling high voltage equipment and wear PPE.
  • Verify safety of test lab environment for other team members.
  • Provide support in laboratory environments with assembly of test products.
  • Monitor condition of test equipment and facilities to ensure good working order.
  • Report issues or anomalies detected during testing to appropriate personnel.
  • Support the team in achieving daily production quotas.

Overview
Your Tasks:
  • Test execution and conduct high voltage tests according to established procedures and standards as determined by Technical Documentation and guidance of test lab managing team. This includes setting up and calibrating test equipment, applying high voltage, and monitoring equipment performance.
  • Accurately record test data for analysis. This includes measurements of voltage, current, and time, as well as any observations during the test.
  • Prepare test reports that include a summary of the test procedures, data, and results.
  • Communicate results effectively to engineers, other team members and supervisors.
  • Ensure and follow all safety procedures when handling high voltage equipment. This includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and ensuring that all safety interlocks and procedures are followed. Also, verify the safety and efficiency of test lab environment for other team members.
  • Provide support and assistance in laboratory environments with assembly of test products and objects.
  • Monitor the condition of test equipment and facilities to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Report any issues or anomalies detected during testing to the appropriate personnel.
  • Support the team in achieving daily production quotas.
Requirements:
  • Community College diploma in Electrical/Electronic or associate’s electrical certification is required.
  • Knowledge of high voltage products and production processes preferable.
  • Active listening, effective communication skills, ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving skills and Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Experience using test instruments such as Impedance Analyzer, Voltage Breakdown Tester, Power Wattmeter & Micro Ohmmeter is preferable.
  • 2+ years relevant experience with hands-on experience working on LV or HV circuit preferred.
  • Critical thinking and knowledge in electromagnetic theory and circuit analysis is required.
  • Proficiency with the use of Microsoft Office and Windows operating system is required. Familiarity with LabView and other industry-wide lab software would strongly be preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical AC & DC schematics is required.
  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy electrical test equipment or components (up to 40 lbs) is required.
  • Working at height and using elevating platforms is a mandatory requirement of this job.
  • Able to work on a shift rotation as required.
  • Excellent proficiency in English including demonstrated ability to follow verbal/written instructions and complete technical paperwork when needed.
